Mossley Academy brought down the curtain on an impressive season with a 3-2 win over Radcliffe at Seel Park on Thursday afternoon.

Mossley dominated the first half, creating and missing several presentable chances before going behind to Radcliffe's first serious attack of the game on 24 minutes scored by Aidan Tustin.

The Lilywhites youngsters continued to dominate but again were hit on the counter when another Radcliffe raid saw a shot hit the Mossley upright and fortunately away to safety.

Radcliffe started the brighter in the second half but failed to trouble Daylan Bardsley's goal and when Mossley raided on 54 minutes Da Rosa was brought down in the box and skipper Isaac Lopez stepped up to fire home from the spot.

Mossley went in search of a second goal and again wasted a couple of gilt edged chances before winning a dubious free kick some 25 yards out. This time, Tcherno Djalo stepped up to curl a great strike into the top corner despite the keeper getting a hand to it.

After another chance went begging as Mossley sought to stretch their lead. However, on 75 minutes the ball was lost in midfield leaving Radcliffe's Luke Wilson with a run on goal, Bradley saved Wilson's first effort but the same player pounced on the rebound to curl his shot beyond the retreating keeper and into the Mossley net.

With the game on a knife-edge in the closing minutes Mossley pressed again and Ben Bowers-Duxbury was tripped just inside the box for a second penalty. Bowers-Duxbury took responsibility and calmly fired home from the spot to earn Mossley victory.

Mossley needed Skelmersdale to get a result against Ossett in order to finish as runners up. It wasn't to be though as Ossett won 6-4 and the Lilywhites completed the disrupted season in 3rd place only 2 points behind champions Runcorn Linnets.
